Toying

What other than humans can become an actor, a protagonist in a photograph? Can still life image have a protagonist? Working in this minor genre, seemingly devoid of any ideological context, the author wants to explore the way visual stories can be built around mute objects that have no agency. Some of the objects she uses can be considered waste, destined to soon decay like cut flowers or fruits, some are in between nature and human realms and some are materials for the new items and functions to be created. Through manipulation, game and staging theatrical setting the author endows objects with new aesthetic meaning. Little shrines, jenga, ikebana - these arrangements seek to become sculptures and build compositions that follow the human’s concept of harmony while losing its natural substance and context.

Using the passivity and silent consent of non-human protagonists, the author conveys the ambiguity of the view itself, never deprived of power relationship.
